“The Lucky Onion is delighted to have purchased The Crown pub in Minchinhampton and we are excited to be preparing for a refurbishment schedule that allows us to re-open this beautiful pub in the first half of 2019. We welcome the support from the local community and are looking forward to restoring an important facility for Minchinhampton once more.”
We just wanted to let you know that EI is continuing its negotiations with an organisation which plans to restore and reopen it as an inn. EI hasn't disclosed the name of the potential purchaser. However we are sure that you will agree that this could be very good news.
Our understanding is that the sale may not be finalised for another month or more. So we are continuing to suspend our activities until we receive definite news.
In the meantime, unless you indicate otherwise, we propose to hold on to your un-cashed cheque/pledge, just in case the situation changes.
Thank you for your patience.
We understand that a new offer to buy the Crown has been received, and EI is giving it serious consideration. We are waiting to hear more about it before deciding what to do next. We will share this information when we know more.
Have you seen the posters about the pop-up bar beginning to crop up around the town? More will be posted. Anyway, here is a bit of what to expect:
There will be a range of beers, wines, punch, soft drinks and water for adults and children, plus crisps (note no food). Stroud Brewery will supply the beers, and the wine will be of decent quality. Prices will be affordable to all.
This will be a cash bar only - no cheques or credit cards.
Although we have followed the rules about children being welcome til 7pm, this is because that is how previous pop-ups have advertised themselves. Of course families and kids are welcome to stay as long as they like; and we hope that the event will be entertaining enough to allow them to do so. We have to say that responsibility for their care and safety is the responsibility of parents, not of us; and we would urge particular caution with regard to traffic - adults as well as children.
Recycling and the environment.
We are hoping to be as sustainable and environmentally responsible as possible, with re-usable glasses, returnable bottles and use of our own personal equipment where possible. We would encourage others to consider the environment at the event too, and to not litter the streets.
Apart from seeing the Directors of MCI pulling pints and making themselves available to answer your questions, we hope to lay on some other forms of entertainment if we can. Watch this space.
So come along, invite your family and friends, and we hope to see you there! Remember, this is all for a very good cause!
Many thanks for your support!!
Minchinhampton has said YES to the restoration of our Crown!!!
